Hi Gwendoline … thank you so much for posting this picture of Walter Craig. I am not sure, but I think he may be my great great grandfather. (The grandfather of my maternal grandmother. ) Reading his obituary I see he left a wife and four children …I wonder , when you were there was there any sign of a family tree ? … I live in the U.K, Although my mother was from NSW. Thank you so much for the post ..all the best Anna

Hi Anna, thanks for making contact. I am not sure if you saw the blog post that photo belongs with, so here is a link in case https://garrulousgwendoline.wordpress.com/2017/01/02/day-6-of-our-victorian-road-trip-ballarat/ I don’t recall if there was a family tree, although I think not. Here is a link to their website, and it includes their email address, so you may be able to ask the current operators. http://www.craigsroyal.com.au/ Did you know that most of Australia’s newspapers have been digitised and a free to view? The website is trove.nla.gov.au You’ll find lots of references to him, as he was so influential in the area and a racehorse owner, for example, this memorial poem http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/174540580?searchTerm=%22walter%20craig%20ballarat%22&searchLimits= and this obituary http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/138066437?searchTerm=%22walter%20craig%20ballarat%22&searchLimits=
Good luck. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if I can help further. (My husband has Craig ancestors too, but it is a common name 🙂 )
