To all those who knew and “loved” the old curmudgeon Brian aka Lord Beari, this popped up in my email in box the other day. I thought you might like to revisit this wonderful slide show, Garrulous Gwendoline
El Bob’s dear friends.
Here is a slideshow full of our favourite memories. Behind the camera in earlier days then growing to love having his photo taken – including a selfie! The original slideshow was set to Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life” and “My Way” so for full effect we suggest muting this copyright free music and listening to those!!
Thank you all so much for the posts and tributes to dad; for all your kind words and messages sending love and support. It has been overwhelming and comforting.
We think dad would be more than a little chuffed with this video and the words written about him and his life.
We hope you enjoy.
A life well lived. Loved and never forgotten.
xx

He must have been quite the person. I’m sorry I missed him.

Gwen, I’m sorry that I have never read Brian’s blog. Is it still out there somewhere?

I’ve been super super busy (just waved off a different house guest yesterday, then hubbie’s birthday today) so haven’t finalised it with John yet. But whatever we do, we will travel to Sydney on Tuesday 28th September to fetch him from Sydney accommodation and show him around – so please hold that date in your diary.
By the way, did you know he is flying in from Townsville around midnight on Monday 26th September? My intention was to find him a cheapish hotel near the domestic terminal – unless you had a better idea?

Hi Gwen, 28 September is Wednesday? That’s the day I take Miss A to preschool at 8.55 am and then pick her up at 2.55 pm. I could come into the city between these times.

Hi Shubha, that was a mistake on my part. It is Tuesday 27th. I sent you an email yesterday and will send a follow up now. x G

I do think of Beari often. I remember his last request being that his friends listen to Beethoven’s Missa solemnis 9th symphony/ Mozart’s coronation march to remember him – but I don’t need anything to remind me.

He was a character who kept us all on our toes.

A wonderful set of pictures showing how daft the feigned curmudgeon was about his family. Thanks very much, Gwen

He certainly was a softie at heart. And let’s not forget how much he loved Dog Coco!

We sure do miss that old curmudgeon and his cheeky smile. It was so good to see a young El Bob growing up to become the man we met via his blog.

I agree. And looking at him in his younger days brought to mind all those stories he told of his bumming around picking up work in pubs and wherever.

He certainly sparked a lot of my posts when he’d throw down the gauntlet and we’d swap stories of our youthful endeavours.
