There is an age-old idiom that “one man’s loss is another man’s gain“. Well, I’m not sure that I will actually notice any loss, but if you have been waiting to read my memoir, I Belong to No One, then now is the time to strike. According to Amazon US, the kindle version is currently available for USD1.99 and you can snag a new paperback from USD6.94.
The pricing extends to Amazon UK also, with the Kindle version at £2.99 and a new paperback for not much more. Some sellers might add postage.
Secondhand editions in good used condition are also available.
Meantime, I am directing all my energy to the two manuscripts I consider prequels to my story. I have based Louisa’s Legacy largely on the real-life experience of my great-grandmother, Louisa Whitley, who migrated to Australia from Bradford in England in the early 1880s. Because I have included experiences of other pioneer women, I have written that as a historical novel and it is currently in front of a publisher.
Finding Florence & Lucy is based on my research into Louisa’s daughters, one being my grandmother, and the other my long-forgotten great-aunt. It is written with a less used structure of my memoir voice interspersing with speculative biography – in other words, my novel-like interpretation of the events in their lives. I am actively pitching that manuscript to publishers at the moment.
Hence my long delays in writing blog posts – not for want of ideas – which are stacking up on my desk every day!

I can’t wait for these new books, Gwen!

Sadly, Hachette has declined Louisa’s Legacy. So now I have two manuscripts that I am submitting directly to publishers. Persistence and Perseverance are the name of the game.

It’s a process, alright! Step 1: Exercise Persistence and Perseverance. Step 2: Repeat as necessary. Step 3: Celebrate overnight success.
LOL.

Thank you, Derrick. Your insight was very welcome. And I tracked down an audio of Mr God, this is Anna. So poignant, and well narrated with such a convincing accent it added meaning to my “reading”.
