6pm Saturday 3rd December 2022. After a long lunch with girlfriends, I wandered back to the train through the QVB (Queen Victoria Building) in Sydney, taking happy snaps on my phone. Click on any image to enlarge, although I have resized them to WordPress’s recommended 1260 x 628 which has diminished the clarity and crispness 🙁 Hard to capture the Christmas tree, which extends four floors.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
Wow the logistics of getting that fine and rather enormous tree into the building and then decorating it. Is it real, I couldn’t tell.

Ah I just read the link and see its a native pine, what a good idea to copy an Aussie original.
I think it might be a bit slimmer than previous years, which is probably why Lynda, another commenter, expressed some mild disappointment. But if I get back to Sydney and have some time to spare, I will have a good look at it now I’ve read the backstory.

They’ve changed the Christmas tree on me! I used to walk through here on my way home from work to catch the 443. And love the Malaya too. Lot I miss about Sydney
It was great to walk around and know I was on familiar territory, but it’s been a few years now since I really miss Sydney. But it does have a lot to offer. I have a subscription for the Ensemble Theatre in Kirribilli next year. Hope you are looking forward to a happy Christmas Lynda, xx Gwen

I made a 7 day itinerary for visitors years back. I should brush it off someday and see how much is still relevant. I’m always amazed at how much you pack in to a day!

I used to work in Elizabeth Street Melbourne in the mid-70s and there was a magnificent arcade next door. Very glamorous. Must be still there.
There are some great arcades but different.
We are heading to the city next week after avoiding it for years of Covid. A musical, a play and a night in a hotel. Our friends going with us have just recovered from Covid after a cruise. We are apprehensive about our chances of catching it but can’t stay locked up forever. Looking forward to seeing the decorations.
Take your time in QVB Linda, and wait for the clock animations.
We lunched at The Malaya on King Street Wharf. Not cheap, but fabulous food and service!

Just lovely Gwen! Such a long time since I was there! The Pandemic has certainly curtailed my getting round the place – just wonder what’s in the future.
It’s worth lingering there, window shopping, and having a coffee and cake.
