SUNDAY 27TH APRIL 2025
Despite the cool, windy weather it is actually Springtime in California. When Bob arrived in the morning to collect us from the Dublin (California) hotel we had occupied for the previous four nights, he showed the choked-up sinus signs of pollen hayfever.
Yeah … no. He soon discovered he had actually gone down with a cold. That’ll teach him for getting married in a thin satin suit. And 48 hours later it was obvious the cold was going to get to me as well. Man, it was freezing in sunny California. I was practically hypothermic by the end of the previous day’s wedding ceremony.
As for what we did on this Sunday – it was pretty much a low key after-party at Aqsa’s house: chatting, eating party leftovers, reviewing and exchanging photos and videos from various phones, and viewing some of Aqsa’s amazing artwork.
Then Bob summoned the energy to drive us to our next hotel about an hour away. In fact, it was the same one as on our first night in San Francisco. Close to the airport to put us in position for a flight to Eugene, Oregon the next morning.
It was good to have an early night – and alcohol-free too.
We are moving on with warm memories of meeting Aqsa and her family; and getting to know Bob in person rather than over internet video. Most of all, I had fulfilled my promise to Lilly – a friendship which has endured for sixty-five years.
This was a no photo day. But I had accidentally published the previous post without the wedding photos. I took it down and reposted, but I’m not sure if regular followers got that prompt. So here’s a link back to it.
Memorable Moments from Lilly’s Celestial Wedding
Footnote: I’m publishing this more than two weeks after the event! Hope that is not too confusing. 😕 Plenty more stories of our travels in USA still to come.
Sounds like you are having a good time, Gwen, in spite of California Cool.

Oh, Don! “Sunny” California was anything but. I was getting fed up with being cold. Conversely New Orleans was a pleasant temperature with none of the humidity I was expecting 🙃
We are having an adventure.

Yes, Gwe., I bet you are really having a ball in the Big Easy. And the pleasant temp is only a small part of it.

65 years of friendship is a beautiful thing, Gwen. I am glad you could be there for Lily and Bob on their special day, and the event brought you up here, too! Hope you are feeling better, and enjoying your trip across country.
I proudly wore the earrings last night at my gig. 🎵❤️

I’m so pleased about the earrings. It gave me great pleasure in choosing them.
Our trip to you is the next instalment.
Take a look at the comment I’ve made to Derrick. We’re still locked in. What a hoot!

About 30 minutes. When someone went to the restroom we banged on the door’s glass window for help. The doors have a handle on the hallway side so we were rescued!

I did get the link. You might be amused at what I wrote: “A wonderful event, although I can see how cold and windy it was”. I hope you are better today, Gwen

Many thanks Derrick. Something amusing just happened. We are on the train from New Orleans to Atlanta.
On a stop in Mississippi our roomette door slammed shut and jammed in the lock position. We are trying to get our room attendant’s attention.
Spooky huh?
