Reflections on the Scenic US Pacific Coast 101 Route

Here’s another post from the WordPress archive that is worth revisiting. A precis of our drive along the Pacific 101 on the west coast of USA in 2018. Funny to think that we were just starting out (early June ’18) at around about the same date as we returned last year from our second trip to the USA (1o Jun ’26). Highly unlikely we will ever visit the States again, so nice to look back on this glimpse – albeit no photographs!

Also, in memory of our Seattle friend, who died suddenly, very shortly after this visit. R.I.P. Seattle Steve.

    • I thought 5 nights from San Francisco to Astoria would be enough, Lavinia, but we could have done with double that time. As you say, it is a wonderful memory for us to hold of that time in the USA.

The loss of Seattle Steve was a great shock for all concerned – but I’ll just document here for all the spammers who’ve been suggesting it was on account of a Covid jab – that was not the cause.
In deference to his family, I won’t go into detail, but it was the consequence of an accident when he was home alone.

A reminder to all of us as we get older to take care!
