For the last three months, WordPress has been emailing me my “Site Stats”. I haven’t been posting anything much for months now, so it surprised me to note that for the third month running, my post “English Gull Good, Australian Seagull Bad” from way back in 2015 has been in the Top Three of views each month.
In the words of one of our most right-wing politicians (Pauline Hanson – look her up, but prepare to be gob-smacked) …
PLEASE EXPLAIN?
You be the judge – here it is:

WordPress never emails me anything!
I really have no idea why it is suddenly popping up in my inbox after 10+ years of being with WordPress.
WordPress does weird things and never warns anybody!
Yep. And I wish they wouldn’t keep changing things around. But I don’t have the inclination to switch to another platform and learn its quirks! My time is too precious 🙂
I don’t either. I know people who have switched to Substack, but actually I find Substack annoying It doesn’t have a sense of community, and it also begs for money.
I only recently heard of Substack and didn’t realise it was for blogging. It doesn’t sound appealing. If I was to switch to anything else it would be Wix as my website is built on that platform. At the moment I only remember to blog there if I have something specific to writing. I haven’t built a following there.
I love gulls, having grown up on the Connecticut shoreline. The Australian gulls sound a bit more pushy. 🙂
Oh, yeah. 🙂
I thought the seagull post sounded familiar and yes I had read it. I learned as a kid just how quickly a gull can snatch your food!! And I think they’ll eat most anything but citrus fruits, but that won’t stop them from taking it.
Did you never have an English gull snatch your chips?
No never. But our local ones have become so game they snatch the fish just at the moment you are about to put it in your mouth – even if their body smacks you in the face at the same time!
Well your stats will be higher again now – I’ve just read your Seagull post!
Xxx
Haha – Thank you!
